Target Facial Wrinkles and Folds with BOTOX® Injections

You might look in the mirror one day only to be disappointed, realizing that the effects of aging have quickly caught up to you. There may have once been a time when you had to just accept the fact that you were growing older. But then BOTOX® injections, which can virtually erase the lines and wrinkles from your face, came along and changed that. Today, BOTOX® is the most widely-used injectable in the world to reduce the effects of wrinkles, creases, and sagging skin. This product is FDA-approved for those uses, and it’s also used to alleviate symptoms associated with a number of medical conditions. Here’s what you need to know about the superstar product and how it can make like better for you.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is a purified protein solution. This solution, used in small doses as with BOTOX®, is effective enough to relax the nerve endings in your facial muscles. While BOTOX® goes to work beneath the surface of your skin, you will see the end results, which is smoother skin and less pronounced wrinkles. When you first get your treatment, it will take about 24-48 hours for you to see the results. But as the substance works its way into your skin, you may notice a dramatic improvement in the treated areas. Wrinkles, creases, and deep folds will become less pronounced over time. The treatment works in specific areas for a set amount of time. After about six months, most people feel in need of a follow-up treatment.

Choosing the Right Treatment for Your Wrinkles

It might sound odd, but part of the process of choosing the right injectable also requires determining what kinds of wrinkles you have on your face. Wrinkles fall into several categories, which are wrinkle folds, dynamic wrinkles, and static wrinkles. Regardless of the type, all wrinkles develop over time primarily as a result of aging. Changing facial expressions and lifestyle factors, such as how much time you spend in the sun and whether or not you smoke, also affect the type and severity of wrinkles that you get.

Dynamic wrinkles, which are commonly treated with BOTOX® injections, can develop in several places. They typically appear on the forehead, along the outside edges of your cheeks, and in between the eyebrows. They can also appear on the outside of your eyes, which is called “crow’s feet.” The wrinkles worsen with age, which means that it’s best to stop them as early as possible. Fortunately, BOTOX® injections do just that. The product is introduced right into a muscle where dynamic wrinkles exist. This causes the muscle to relax and improves the appearance of the local wrinkles.
