Regain Your Confidence with an Endoscopic Brow Lift

Lately, you’ve been noticing that the lines on your forehead that used to appear when you raised your eyebrows or frowned persist even when your face is at rest. You’re satisfied with the look of the rest of your face, but those lines are bothering you. Or your brow may have started to sag, which makes you look tired or angry even when you’re not. You may also have deep folds between your eyebrows, on the bridge of your nose or furrows between your eyes that make you look older than you are. The good news is you might be a candidate for an endoscopic brow lift.

This is a type of facelift where only the skin and tissue of your brow are treated. Now, doctors can perform endoscopic brow lifts, which is a technique that only requires tiny incisions and specialized surgical tools. This lessens your recovery time and lowers the risk of a more open surgery. Below is more information about endoscopic brow lift.

First, You’ll Need a Consultation

As with any other cosmetic surgery, you’ll need to consult with our plastic surgeon before your brow lift. You’ll tell the surgeon what you want from the surgery, and the surgeon will examine your brow and face and tell you what options are available for your brow lift and what the most likely outcome of an endoscopic brow lift could be. They’ll also discuss any risks and complications.

The surgeon will take your medical history and ask you to discontinue medications or supplements that can delay your healing from the operation. They’ll also tell you to stop smoking and drinking alcohol at least two weeks before the operation. The surgeon or nurse will also tell you what to do in the hours before your operation. You might have to fast after midnight, for example.

The Procedure

Our surgeon marks the areas on your brow to guide the incisions. They may also make marks on your brow and temples during the surgery to remind them of where the specific muscles in your brow are. They’ll then insert an endoscope, a tiny camera, beneath the skin of your brow. Guided by the images they see on a monitor, the surgeon will operate with miniaturized surgical tools.

Just before the operation is over, the surgeon anchors your forehead muscles to the bone of your forehead, then closes the surgical wounds with staples or sutures. The doctor then wraps your head in a compression bandage to keep down the swelling. You’ll need to wear this bandage between 24 and 48 hours. An endoscopic brow lift will raise your forehead enough that you will appear younger and more well-rested, but it won’t give you a “pulled-back” appearance.

After the Endoscopic Brow Lift

After the surgery, you’ll be taken to a recovery room and monitored for a while. Then, you can go home after the nurse instructs you in how to take care of your surgical wounds and gives you a date for a follow-up appointment with our surgeon.

Make sure that you’ve arranged for someone to drive you home after your operation and stay with you for at least the first night. You should also have prepared your home for your recuperation. This might mean cooking meals ahead and putting them in the fridge, buying pillows to prop up against your headboard of your bed and making sure that objects you need are placed within reach on your bedside table. The doctor will have prescribed painkillers and antibiotics, and it’s a good idea to get the prescriptions filled before the surgery and have them available when you get home.

As with any surgery, there will be some swelling and bruising that will go away after about two weeks. The area around the surgical wounds may also itch and feel numb, but this is also temporary. The doctor will take out the sutures or staples in about a week to 10 days. If you were given absorbable stitches, they’ll simply dissolve.

It’s important that you rest and recover for one to two weeks. The nurse will have told you to avoid wearing a hat, which can interfere with the healing of your surgical wounds. You should also keep the incision sites as dry as you can, even if you take a shower or bath. After a few months you’ll be able to see the results of your endoscopic brow lift. The scars will be all but invisible, and like the vast majority of people who’ve had this operation, you’ll relish your fresh, youthful and alert appearance.
