Why Men are Turning to Plastic Surgery

Plastic Surgery

Are you a man and have been trying to build a body that is the envy of bodybuilders with no success? You have probably tried different supplements and diets with zero success rates. Luckily, there is another option that will give you tangible results. Platic surgery for men is a safe cosmetic technique ideal for men who wish to enhance a certain aspect of their body, sculpturing it to the desired proportions.

What Does Plastic Surgery Involve?

It all starts with a consultation with Dr. Tarola at Tarola Plastic Surgery. During this meeting at our office in Hendersonville, TN or Murfreesboro, TN, we can assess your unique situation and determine if plastic surgery is safe for you. We’ll evaluate your health and medical history and also review your cosmetic goals in order to see which procedure is likely to give you the results you desire.

The Procedure

The process entails customizing the plastic surgery procedure of choice based on the patient’s wants and needs, as well as the recommendations of our surgeon. For example, for a male breast reduction procedure, you and the surgeon can decide together how much fat should be removed and how masculine the chest should look post-surgery.

Advantages of Cosmetic Surgery

For men who have tried building up their bodies without success, plastic surgery is an effective method of getting the body of their dreams. You also get to see almost immediate results, with results only getting better in time as you heal.

At Tarola Plastic Surgery, our team wants to help you achieve your cosmetic goals. We proudly offer a number of surgical and non-surgical procedures for both men and women. Contact us today to book a plastic surgery consultation at our office in Hendersonville, TN or Murfreesboro, TN.

Considering Plastic Surgery in Middle Tennessee? Visit Dr. Tarola!

middle Tennessee

Plastic surgery is designed to repair, reconstruct, augment or enhance an area of the face or body. In the middle Tennessee area, Dr. Tarola offers compassionate care, cutting-edge expertise and a desire for helping individuals look and feel the best they can. Dr. Tarola offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical options for enhancing the face and body. Many provide the changes necessary to remove or minimize the signs of aging. Others eliminate unwelcome fat and sagging skin.

For the Face

Many people in middle Tennessee would like to return the face to its usual youthful proportions because this is the area of the body that most people see first. A wrinkled face, sagging chin or hollowed cheeks can make you appear older than you are and can drag down your confidence level. However, a facelift can lift sagging skin and remove unwanted fat and other tissues from the lower part of your face to create a sleek, toned look. You may want to consider adding a forehead lift, brow lift or neck lift to this procedure to improve your look further. These can help to get rid of deep furrows in the forehead or sagging skin and fatty deposits in the neck.

Eyelid surgery can open up the eye area, making you appear brighter and more vibrant.

For the Body

Dr. Tarola offers a variety of techniques to reshape the rest of the body as well. Liposuction can remove stubborn fat that does not budge despite a healthy diet or exercise. A tummy tuck removes excess skin that sags under the abdomen and tightens underlying muscles. To reshape or improve the breasts, you may want a breast lift, augmentation or even reduction surgery. The mommy makeover combines multiple procedures for a whole new you following pregnancy.

Non-Surgical Options

Dr. Tarola also offers a variety of non-surgical options to remove fat, fill in wrinkles or eliminate fine lines. Some of the most popular options in Hendersonville, TN and Murfreesboro, TN include BOTOX®, dermal fillers, CoolSculpting®, chemical peels and microneedling.

Breast Augmentation: Silicone or Saline?

The choice of implant filler, implant size, shape, and other features will be determined based on your breast anatomy, body type, and your desired increase in size. Your lifestyle, goals, and personal preferences, as well as your plastic surgeon’s recommendations and sound surgical judgment are also determining factors. Both silicone and saline breast implants are medical devices with a solid silicone, rubber shell. Both have also been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Approval means that an implant has been rigorously researched and tested, and reviewed by an independent panel of physicians for safety. Now, let’s focus on unique features of each implant.

Saline Breast Implants
Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater solution similar to the fluid that makes up most of the human body. They are inserted behind each breast as an empty shell, and then filled once they’re in place allowing the surgeon to adjust the volume during the procedure if necessary. Saline filled implants provide a slightly firmer feel than silicone-filled implants. Saline implants are also generally more affordable than silicone. Drawbacks to these implants are risk of deflation and visible folds or ripples. Many women choose this options because they fear silicone and prefer a “natural substance” in their body despite the tested safety of silicone implants. Occasionally, breast implants may break or leak. Rupture can occur as a result of injury or even from the normal compression and movement of your breast and implant, causing the man-made shell to leak. If a saline implant ruptures, the implant will deflate causing the affected breast to change in size and shape. The leaking saline solution will be absorbed into the body and naturally expelled without posing any health risks, but the patient will most likely need surgery to remove the silicone shell at which time a new implant can likely be inserted. Saline implants are FDA approved for augmentation in women 18 years of age and older.

Silicone(Gel) Breast Implants
Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel–a thick, sticky fluid that closely mimics the feel of human fat. Most women feel that silicone breast implants look and feel more like natural breast tissue. Patients with very low body fat or breast tissue to cover the implants often benefit from choosing silicone as subtle wrinkles and rippling that sometimes occur with saline implants are more obvious due to their frame. As in saline implants, silicone implants can occasionally leak or break. The elastic silicone gel may remain within the implant shell, or it may escape into the breast implant pocket (a capsule of tissue that surrounds the implant). A leaking implant filled with silicone gel may not deflate and may not be noticeable except through imaging techniques such as MRI. Leaking silicone gel isn’t thought to cause systemic or long-term health problems such as breast cancer which is a common misconception. Silicone breast implants are available to women 22 and older for breast augmentation.

When considering a breast augmentation, establish your own goals for the outcome of your breasts by doing your own research, and be sure to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Preventative Botox: Stop the Wrinkle in its’ Tracks

The age at which you can benefit from receiving Botox is a controversial topic. While the majority of individuals who get Botox injections are older than 35, doctors say that the anti-aging treatment is becoming more popular among men and women in their 20’s as well. If you look into that mirror and are unhappy with what the mirror shows you, there is help available. Age itself is never the governing factor in the decision for a cosmetic procedure.

“Muscles move and form folds in the skin. If you do that long enough, you’ll get imprinted lines from the collagen breaking down,” Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. William J. Binder’s explains. “Botox stops this process by preventing the muscles from moving.”

Starting early is one of the top tips Dr. Debra Jaliman, a dermatologist on New York City’s tony Fifth Avenue. “She often tells her young patients, if they ask, that the science is clear: Early engagement can stop the clock. “If you know you’re somebody who’s going in the direction of cosmetics and you know that you’re going to care about lines, then I say it’s better to do it earlier than to wait and do it once these lines have etched into the skin,” Jaliman said. “So if you’re in your 20s and you start to see lines coming, then why not do it early and prevent it? And to me it’s just like exercise.”

Research has proven that “preventative Botox” is a valid treatment that could assist in eliminating wrinkles before they start.
