Breast Lift Surgery for a Drooping Bust

breast lift

You’ve always been content with the size of your breasts. They are a part of who you are and give you confidence in your appearance. However, gravity is bringing you down and its taking your breasts with it. You’ve noticed that your bust is sagging in a way that it never has before, heading toward your waistline. You’ve lost that perkiness that you used to have.

This is a common problem for many women all over the world. Your breasts can begin to droop for many reasons. You could undergo fluctuations in weight. Pregnancy, especially more than one, can take a toll on your breasts as they expand and shrink once nursing is over. Even your age can work against you as less collagen is produced in your body, causing your skin to lose its elasticity. A breast lift can help you to lift up your bust once again.

Consider a Breast Lift for Sagging Breasts

A breast lift is not intended to increase the size of your breasts. If you’re also looking for a larger bust, a breast lift with implants may be the answer. Breast implants alone are not going to help you if your breasts have begun to droop.

During a typical breast lift procedure, our plastic surgeon will go into your breasts and reshape them to help them have a firmer appearance once again. Excess tissue can be removed to tighten your breasts and your areolas can be lifted as well. Once your procedure is over, your breasts will finally have that perky appearance they used to have before the strains of life started making your breasts begin to sag.

What Can You Expect During a Breast Lift?

A breast lift is an outpatient surgery. Our plastic surgeon will want to make sure that you are comfortable before your procedure is performed through the use of general anesthesia. Once your procedure begins, our plastic surgeon will make alterations that are tailored to fit you.

Unlike BOTOX® injections, you will have some downtime after your procedure. You will likely wear a support bra. This will help you to keep down the swelling after the surgery. You should limit your physical activity during this time. Once your breasts have completely healed, you’ll love what a breast lift can do for you.

Ask Our Plastic Surgeon About a Breast Lift

If you are unhappy with sagging breasts, our plastic surgeon at Tarola Plastic Surgery can offer you a solution. Come in for a visit to discuss your issues with your breasts. Our plastic surgeon will evaluate your breasts in order to plan your procedure. Your medical history will be taken into consideration. Our doctor will look at your current health as well.

If everything is positive, Dr. Tarola can help you to lift up your breasts once again. We have offices in Murfreesboro, TN and Hendersonville, TN. Contact us today to schedule your consultation for a breast lift!

Combine Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation for Added Results

breast augmentation

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation still reigns as the most common surgical cosmetic procedure in the country. Alone, breast augmentation may not address all the issues you have with the appearance of your breasts.

If you want your breasts to be both larger and higher up on the chest wall, you may want to consider a combination procedure that addresses both issues in the same surgery.

What is a Breast Augmentation?

For most clients, it means getting implants to have fuller, larger breasts.

However, the term is a catch-all in the medical community and may include reductions, swapping out of implants for another pair or even having reconstructive work done.

During a breast augmentation, the surgeon will make incisions and insert implants. This will allow you to enjoy a natural-looking, larger bustline, but you may not be happy with the results if your breasts have sagged from childbirth, breast feeding or aging.

What is a Breast Lift?

During a breast lift, the surgeon will reshape the breast and make it higher on the chest wall. If you’re hoping for a more perky look, a breast lift may be just right for you.

The Benefits of a Combined Procedure

Having both a lift and an augmentation at the same time comes with some distinct advantages.

First, you will only need to recover from surgery once. The recovery process can be a challenge for patients, and no one wants to do it twice if it can be avoided. Second, it’s sometimes difficult for patients to envision the end result after one of two surgeries.

If you have them done at the same time, you will see your final result sooner.

Who Shouldn’t Have These Procedures?

There are some health issues that can make recovery from surgery much more dangerous and difficult than it is for the average person.

For example, well-controlled diabetics, those with a history of cancer and those who use tobacco may have trouble healing or experience complications.

Other conditions, such as blood clotting disorders, advanced lung disease or heart disease could disqualify you entirely. Each case is different. Contact Tarola Plastic Surgery to learn if you’re eligible for the procedure.

Get Your Pre-Baby Body Back with a Mommy Makeover

Mommy Makeover

The effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding can be detrimental to a woman’s body. The breasts and abdomen in particular often experience sagging skin and loss of shape as a result of motherhood. For women who are ready to get their pre-baby bodies back, Mommy Makeovers are increasing in popularity. Through a series of cosmetic procedures, the body is reshaped and definition is restored to treated areas.

If your breasts appear deflated and have lost their perkiness and fullness, or if you have fat deposits in your stomach, love handles or hips, a Mommy Makeover may benefit you and your body. These procedures can also treat excess skin, and in many cases reduce the appearance of a C-section scar.

The Mommy Makeover usually includes a trifecta of surgeries including a breast lift, either with or without implants, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. Some women opt to add a buttock lift as well, but your Mommy Makeover can be customized to fit your needs. As pregnancy affects all body types differently, not every woman needs the same thing.

The extent of surgery also depends on the types of procedures being performed, as well as the techniques that best suit the individual patient. While some of these procedures can be performed in conjunction, some surgeries may have to be performed in separate sessions. The result of a Mommy Makeover is not only fuller breasts and a trimmer, toned body, but also increased self-confidence.

If you want to get your body back into pre-baby shape and diet and exercise are not enough, a Mommy Makeover may be an option for you. During your consultation, the treatment options will be discussed with you in order to customize your Mommy Makeover and achieve the look that you want. The possible risks, recovery times, and aftercare information will be discussed with you as well, and your health and medical history will be evaluated to establish whether you are a good candidate for all of the procedures.

At Tarola Plastic Surgery in Murfreesboro, we understand that motherhood is a beautiful thing. But not all women are able to return to their pre-baby state and this can lead to decreased self-esteem. Our medical team – led by Dr. Tarola – is here to help you get the body you once had (or always wanted). We’ll work with you to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your needs. Contact Tarola Plastic Surgery today to schedule your consultation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

breast lift

The natural effects of aging can cause a number of different effects. An undesirable effect of aging that women face is sagging breasts. While there is no doubt that aging can cause a woman’s breasts to droop, weight loss, breastfeeding, pregnancy, gravity and heredity are other causes.

Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem, and it’s known as a breast lift. It can restore a youthful appearance for breasts. After undergoing the procedure, many women have also benefitted from greater breast firmness and volume.

How It Works

By tightening supporting tissues and trimming excess skin, a breast lift can rejuvenate drooping breasts. Put simply, it will make breasts look much more youthful. Once the procedure has been performed, breasts will feel firmer and sit higher up on the chest.

However, the procedure can also be used to reposition the breasts or reduce the size of the dark skin that surrounds the nipple. It’s quite common for this skin to droop and stretch.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast lift?

Before you consider getting a breast lift, you should know if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. If your breasts meet certain criteria, then you’re a good candidate. If your breasts are sagging or flat, then a breast lift could be the perfect solution. If your breasts have lost volume or shape, you might be a good candidate. Women who have pendulous or elongated breasts are also great candidates. Some other conditions that would make you a candidate for a breast lift are one breast hanging lower, areolas in the wrong position, areolas or nipples point downward or areola or breast skin is stretched.

While all of these issues can make you a candidate for the procedure, it’s important that you meet other criteria. For example, ideal candidates don’t smoke, have a stable bodyweight, are healthy and have realistic expectations.

When You Should Avoid the Procedure

There are certain conditions that would indicate you should avoid getting a breast lift. If you’re planning on having children, then you should wait until after you have them. Nursing and pregnancy can counteract the results obtained from a breast lift because these activities stretch the skin. You should also understand that the procedure doesn’t affect the upper fullness or size of the breasts.

If you want smaller, larger or more rounded breasts, then you should consider getting a breast reduction or augmentation, which can be provided in addition to a lift.

What to Expect

This procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis, and general anesthesia is used. The entire procedure can take anywhere from one to three hours. Doctor Tarola will choose the incision method depending on specific characteristics of your breasts.  Full recovery can take about a month, and you’ll need to wear a surgical bra or similar device. After surgery, your breasts will likely be uncomfortable, swollen or bruised. Most patients are satisfied with the results.

If you’re interested in a breast lift, Dr. Tarola can help. Contact Tarola Plastic Surgery today to schedule your consultation. We’ll work with you to determine the most effective treatment options for your needs.
