How Long Do Botox Results Last?

botox Nashville

Botox Nashville is an injectable muscle relaxant that has been used for two decades to treat moderate-to-severe frown lines with FDA approval. However, this injectable has far more uses than treating deep frown lines. For instance, it can be used to erase crow’s feet and smoker’s lines, as well. Today, our aesthetic experts at Tarola Plastic Surgery in Murfreesboro, TN discuss how long the results of this treatment last.

How Long Do Botox Nashville Results Last?

The longevity of Botox Nashville results depends on numerous factors, not the least of which is the specific concern you are treating. Generally, though, you can expect your injectable muscle relaxant treatment results to last between two months and half of a year. It is also worth noting that your results will last longer the more consistently you receive treatment.

This treatment relaxes the muscles, weakening them over time. The weaker your muscles are, the longer it will be before the muscles tense up to the point that your skin wrinkles. Also, you should keep in mind that we use a smaller dose the first time someone receives treatment to ensure that the results look completely natural. Using a smaller dose also allows us to observe exactly how your muscles react to the medication safely.

Are There Any Anti-Aging Techniques With Longer-Lasting Results?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Tarola will discuss all of your cosmetic concerns, assess your problem areas, and overall health. If you want anti-aging results that last for 10 to 15 years and you’re in pretty good health, you may be a good fit for a brow lift or eyelid surgery depending on your cosmetic concerns.

Is There Anything I Can Do To Help My Botox Results Last Longer?

Yes, it is possible to extend the longevity of your injectable muscle relaxant results. For instance, you will find that your ideal results last longer if you:

  • Wear sunscreen diligently
  • Minimize stress
  • Eat nutritiously
  • Avoid abrasive products for a week
  • Take zinc supplements
  • Exercise your facial muscles
  • Don’t exercise vigorously for 24 hours

How Quickly Does This Injectable Muscle Relaxant Work?

You can expect to see the initial results of this injectable muscle relaxant anywhere from 48 to 96 hours after it is administered. You should not expect to see the initial results of the treatment right away because it takes a while for the medication to spread throughout the treatment area and settle in place.

It can take anywhere from 10 to 14 days to see the final results of your treatment assuming your goal is to address cosmetic concerns rather than medical concerns. It can take up to two full weeks to see the final results of your treatment because it takes a while for your skin to relax after the medication has relaxed your hyperactive muscles.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

It is imperative that you speak with an aesthetic expert to determine whether you qualify for this anti-aging treatment. There is a good chance that you will qualify for this treatment if you are an adult with cosmetic concerns caused by muscle hyperactivity, but it is not a guarantee. For example, even if you’re worried about forehead folds or frown lines, you won’t qualify for this treatment if you have a bleeding disorder or skin irritation in the area of concern.

Furthermore, you will be considered a poor fit for this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. During your initial consultation, Dr. Tarola will discuss all of the medications you are currently taking. If you are taking an oral muscle relaxant or NSAID and your PCP advises you not to stop, you will not qualify for this treatment. Also, certain nutritional supplements and sleep aids will disqualify you from candidacy.

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment Session?

To reiterate, taking certain medications in advance of your treatment will disqualify you from candidacy because they may affect the treatment itself or the results. Therefore, you may need to stop taking certain drugs and supplements, including those that relax your muscles and those that thin your blood. Another very important preparation step to take is to prevent skin irritation in the region of concern by:

  • Using preventative acne medication
  • Taking medication to prevent cold sores
  • Wearing sunscreen diligently
  • Not using abrasive skincare treatments

It is also a good idea to eat nutritiously and drink plenty of water before your appointment. Before your scheduled session, have a light meal or snack packed full of protein and micronutrients.

What Should I Expect During My Appointment?

You can expect your appointment to take anywhere from half of an hour to 45 minutes to complete. It will be completely painless, and you will be able to go home as soon as it is complete.
